idea in the US too? Regarding the case of the actress who fell on a ski slope at Mont Tremblant resort in Quebec, AP reports:
As a steady stream of celebrities pay their last respects to Natasha Richardson, questions are arising over whether a medical helicopter might have been able to save the ailing actress.
The province of Quebec lacks a medical helicopter system, common in the United States and other parts of Canada, to airlift stricken patients to major trauma centers. Montreal's top head trauma doctor said Friday that may have played a role in Richardson's death.
"It's impossible for me to comment specifically about her case, but what I could say is ... driving to Mont Tremblant from the city (Montreal) is a 2 1/2-hour trip, and the closest trauma center is in the city. Our system isn't set up for traumas and doesn't match what's available in other Canadian cities, let alone in the States," said Tarek Razek, director of trauma services for the McGill University Health Centre, which represents six of Montreal's hospitals.

That's it in a nutshell. Socialized medicine, known by the euphemism universal healthcare, is about tightfisted government clerks rationing care.
Natasha Richardson received the same kind of treatment anyone in Quebec would have received, and now she's dead at the age of 45 because Quebec didn't have something as basic as a medical helicopter system.

Many defenders of socialized argue that she died because she initially refused medical care. SO WHAT? Many people do just that with closed head injuries in the US and live. If she had the accident in the US...she would still be alive today, because we have top notch air evac services, and in America, one could throw a dart and hit a CT scanner or physician capable of drilling a Burr Hole and decompressing her epidural hematoma.

Seems a tad harsh that people have to die to show up the inept, corrupt idea of government run medicine to people who fanatically push this system FOR OTHER PEOPLE. But there you have it, I'm sorry to say. For instance, that other first rate hypocrite Tedward Kennedy would be long dead had he been in the UK. You see, 77 year old men don't even make it to the list to GET ON THE LIST for an MRI.

Age being a rationing factor in jolly olde England.
Here's what happens in a socialist healthcare system such as that in the UK (also known as universal healthcare) funded by what we laughingly call "taxation."

When you pay for your own healthcare (or your employer pays in deferred income) you EXPECT and DEMAND a level of service.
You may grumble at the cost, but you see that cost. It’s your cost. And you get what you pay for. Britain system is shite partly because they spend HALF of what Americans spend. What? You think Britons get the same service as Americans but at half the cost? You really cannot have duplicity without dupes.

Just ask Obama. He’s a duplicitous, lying SOB.
So how and why does this come about? Think about it. The word is TAX.
You remember how the Marxist-in-Chief got elected? Yeah, lying about just about everything he planned. But he was cunning (if somewhat dim) and he knew what he was lying about when he lied about reducing taxes for 95% of Americans.
Get it SOCIALISTS and the rest of you national socialist rabble? People don't LIKE paying tax. It's an ISSUE at every election.
So how would that work out in a system in which your TAXES would fund healthcare?Politicians who run for office would have to stand there and defend raising taxes to PAY for the never-satiated beast of government healthcare.
So there would be an irresistible and never-ending drive to PUSH DOWN COSTS by rationing healthcare. By age, by lifestyle, by anything they can get away with.
Welcome to Obamacare. You're gonna love it.

23,000 people die in the US every year because they cannot afford health care. They die because they have not got enough money to provide health care for themselves. They die! Socialised health care is not about clerks rationing, it's about tightfisted taxpayers who constantly complain about the amount of tax they pay and demonstrate no social responsibility. In days gone by when everyone lived in villages people looked after each other. Now we couldn't give a shit about anything or anyone. The devil take the hindmost is the prevailing attitude and I might say, the foremost Republican standpoint.

I hate how socialized things are now. I hate government control on every single level. I don't believe in coercion.

Oh, the rants of the unknowing. . .

President Obama is not proposing socialized health care. I wish you people making this claim would educate yourself before speaking.

What is being proposed is a way for ALL AMERICANS to have access to affordable health insurance. The way to do this is to supplement some and offer government run health insurance that would base premiums on ability to pay. Of course there would still be private health insurance companies, but there will also be insurance that will be sponsored by the government that would make sure that those that can't afford the health insurance premiums that is offered at their job, or they don't qualify for their employer's health insurance plan due to working part time, they would be able to obtain some form of health insurance.

Streamlining the health care system is also a necessity. This country has the most complicated, expensive health care system in the world - and it isn't even the BEST health care in the world! People are going over seas to get procedures performed at a tenth of the cost, and insurance companies are paying for this BECAUSE IT IS CHEAPER. They get the same quality care (many foreign doctors were educated in the United States. . .), but for a fraction of the cost. Some of the care actually is better than that offered in the US, and yet is still cheaper.

There is something very broken in this nation's health care system. A huge part of the problem is the intricate network to pay for health care. The multi payer system that is in place is so time consuming and confusing, and it is way too expensive to run. This all needs to change. When a person in this nation has to choose living and paying for a system, there is something very wrong! This is not supposed to happen in the United States, and yet it does daily. And the ones that choose to have the procedure, they are one illness away from financial ruin. What in the hell is so great about this method and procedure?

Nothing is. THAT is the problem.

You read something into that report that I do not, there fore all I can say is "I" disagree with your conclusion.

Thanks for the silly rant. Obama isn't proposing socialized health care. You realize Richardson DECIDED to refuse further treatment on site. She opted not to go to the hospital for the recommended follow up. It had nothing to do with the Canadian hospital system.

People also refuse care here in the states. No one will force you to seek to care. Nor should they.
