We recently decided to put in a small vegetable garden and some shrubs in our backyard. We had the utility company come out and mark the lines today, and it turns out that there is an underground electric line running directly under the spot we'd like to put the garden and shrubs.
I'm not overly concerned with the digging... I can be careful not to disturb the line or kill myself. But do I need to be concerned about:
a) The growth affecting the electric line, or:
b) The electric line affecting the garden's growth?
I'm a little more concerned about the first point above. Will the root system interfere with the wire? I don't know how deeply the wire is buried yet.
Any thoughts?
