If you mean "will the use of transmission fluid in your power steering pump cause damage", yes it could because all transmission fluids are not the same. It would be a whole lot safer and cheaper to buy the power steering fluid that is recommended for your power steering.

no it wont hurt it ,its equal to power steering fluid ,and some cars say to use transmission fluid instead of power steering fluid in them,it shouldn't harm it none,id read in the owners manual and see what it calls for though but i have used that in a few newer model gm cars and i doesn't hurt them,good luck.

in a buick the two fluids are the same, atf and power steering fluid are so very similar.

I believe that *proper* automatic transmission fluid is proper also to be used in power steering systems of *any* vehicle.
