Will this work for the IR bar? (Army & Wii related)

As some may know, the Army has new uniforms with little half inch Infared Squares built into the shoulder pockets. They are used for night time identification.

Buddies and I got to thinking, the Wii remote is the one that sends out the IR signal right? And the IR bar all it does is just reflect the signal back. Thus, would these little IR patches from the uniform work if they were spaces properly?

The sensor bar is just two IR LEDs that send out IR beams, that the Wii-Motes use to triangulate where they are in space.

it should work since candles work and all the candles do is emit IR

Is this just for training or are they putting people on the battlefield with these things on the uniforms?

Any particular reason the enemy can't use these things to pick off Americans at night?
