Quantaray 70-210mm f/4.0-f/5.6 Zoom Lens w/ Macro Focus for Minolta
i know minolta lenses fit sony alpha series cameras but what about the third party lenses made for minolta cameras i am so damn confused about this and i really need to find a Lense for my camera please for the love of all that is holy help me

As Edwin said... if it is for the Maxxum camera, yes it will mount. Easy enough to tell, just look at the mount end. If it has the 5 electrical contacts, then it is an A mount lens. If there are no contacts, it is an MD lens and cannot be used. Take the lens off your camera and look at the mount end to see what I mean.

Quantaray did not make lenses, they are re-branded Tamron and Sigma models. The Minolta 70-210 F/4 (called the Beercan) can be had for less than $200 all day long on Ebay, and will be a MUCH better lens.

If the lens is a Minolta Maxxum "A" mount it will mount on your A230. If it says "MD" or "MC" it will not mount on your A230.

Since the Quantaray isn't a very high-end lens you might want to consider the Minolta Maxxum 70-210mm f4 zoom. I have the older manual focus version and its an excellent lens. There was an f4-5.6 version but it isn't worth buying. I have absolutely no doubt that the Maxxum 70-210mm f4 will blow the Quantaray away in terms of image quality.
