will this kitten be really shy? used to being outdoors?

we are going to look at a kitten on sunday, the people said their cat gave birth to them under a shed and they only realised when the kittens started running around so they are used to being outdoors but they said their kids have brought them in for cuddles frequently.

my mum is worried she'll be really shy and 'wild', but lots of stary kittens used to being outdoors become great family pets, i want this kitten so much, and i am not going home without her. do you think she'll be okay? xx
we will de-flea and de-worm her, as well as getting her vaccinated x
 
Well, #1 there are no "pack manners" with cats. they are loners. But a kitten that young can be acclimated indoors rather quickly. Glad to hear you are thinking about proper vet care. Don't be surprised if its too young for shots just yet. By the time the kittens start to venture away from mom for any period of time they are usually only 6-7 weeks old.

Buy some toys to entice her or him to play with you, once he/she is wound down and a little sleepy, gently pet them and snuggle them. Don't hold a kitten until it struggles. As soon as it shows impatience, let it go. This will teach the kitten you aren't out to confine it, just to love it.

Our "kitten" is just turned 2, & started out as a kitten under the hood of a car, and she's just now getting to the "lovey dovey" part of her personality. Until they reach that age they have MUCH better things to do than be held or petted. They are constantly on the go. You just have to teach it manners with a squirt bottle (just a quick spritz when she's a bad like being on the counters). Give her a nice sisal scratching post to keep her trained to that instead of your mom's furniture. Other than that, lots of interaction with a feather wand, a paper bag, a balled up piece of foil and you all will be fine!
 
we recently rescued a kitten who was in the wild, she had her mom and siblings at first but the area has wolves and bears and slowly only she was left, and since she was still a kitten, we brought her home, she is only shy around new people, but she is a attention hog, most female cats usually are. But our kitten also is find with other animals and she tries to seduce our pug who ignores her. Personality differs by cat but this is what happened to me.
 
You need to immediately deflea and depest that cat, spay or neuter it, teach it pack manners (it is not going to rule the roost with its claws, you are going to rule it by obedience training).
 
I know about cats born outside. My female cat I've had now for 4 years used to be feral. She used to be an in and outside cat but I keep her in all the time. She is just fine. And a friend of mine took a baby from outside too, like mine was a baby too. They have adapted just fine. My friends cat lives indoors only also. It is better for the cats, so they won't get hurt or sicknesses from other stray cats outside. I do know about that and vet bills. Good luck your kitty will do just fine. Just love her and play with her and always give her fresh water. They love fresh water, they are so funny.
