So, i have always lived with my mother. My parents got divorced before i was born. My mom barely makes enough and lives in another country. I live here with a friend, but i my mom pays my bills when she can. i'm 16. My dad barely sends me enough money to cover anything and when i ask for more he always complains. However, he does make more than my mom and can afford to give me more especially since i really need it. ANyway, i know you cannot get emancipated from 1 parent however, i feel his income will affect my chances of getting aid or scholarships. He isn't like rich but he makes quite a bit. When i fill out Fafsa, do i have to declare his income or only the income of my mom who is my sole guardian? because, he barely does anything for me and i have a feeling that adding his income on my fafsa will affect my chances on getting in. What should i do? he said he is not going to help me pay for college.

As I was stated when calling FAFSA, only the parent you live with, you have to include. Since your Mom is your sole guardian then you only have to include her income. My parents are divorced so I figured this thing out.

Since your parents are divorced you only have to provide the income of the one you lived with the most. If you didn't live with either parent more then you should put the one who provided you with the most financial support. If your mother provided for most of your bills, then put her income down.
