Will they do a hair drug test? Will he go to jail? What will happen?

I know someone that got reported for doing mushrooms and opium while on probation for selling pot and acid. Will his PO hair test him and what will happen when he tests dirty? His friend that has the same PO tested dirty once and was told it was his last chance. But if they do a hair test they'll see multiple occasions of drug use. The person who reported him did so anonymously.
How long would it take to process?
He was reported to his PO not the police.
 
If his PO does a test using a hair sample, he will be caught (provided the information given to his PO is true). Testing of hair will show any drug use in the past six months. The amount of time it takes to process depends on the lab that does the test.

The court said, "We're going to trust you to be out on the streets. We'll let you serve your sentence on probation, as long as you don't mess up."

When he tests dirty, the court will say, "Well, probation didn't work out so well. Go back to jail to serve out your old sentence. We'll see you when they bring you in for these new charges."
