I mean, it's gotta happen eventually, right?

so how many years until the world world is underwater?

technicaly YES.. realistically YES ..

it won't happen in our lifetime.. and the highest points may remain long after low lands are washed over..

The concern is what effect global warming will have on the core of our planet which is already steaming hot. Basic physics will tell you that if we continue to absorb heat into our core.. that we will suddenly see more volcanic activity all over the planet.. this could cause new landmasses to form.. but most likely will cause earthquakes.. and volcanoes unlike any ever seen on earth before will sprout up..

the dust they could spew into the atmosphere alone could wipe out life on earth as it would create a sudden ice age as the dust thickens and within weeks has blocked out the sun.. and not till it clears perhaps over hundreds of years.. will life return to earth.. this is one realistic scenario.. read a book called Deep Space Biosphere.. groundbreaking theoretical book which talks about harnessing this volcanic earth core power as a fuel source too..

as for tides rising.. you will definately get more violent seas.. more tidal waves with global warming.. this will decimate all low lying areas within a decade now.. too late to stop it..

othewr lands just higher.. including new york city and florida.. will face an uncertain decade after that as seas potentially wash out the metro system and new york officially shuts down as a city..

another highly likley scenario..

beyond that you may be talking hundreds of years before cities like sydeny are affected.. although many beach suburbs including bondi will be washed away to the walkways.. at bondi during one storm i already witnessed the water crashing on the far steps on the boardwalk.. and the entire raod was covered in sand.. it was the only time.. and i even saw three large boats washed up smashed.. on bondi beach !!!

the beach i lived on for two years is also now washed away.. there is a sudden 3 meter drop.. as soon as you hit the beach.. it just drops 3 meters !!! straight down !!

it was all level 2 years ago ..

Mount Everest is 8,848 metres above sea level. Where are you going to get all the water from?

Never, never in a million years.
Where do you think all the water will come from, even if ice sheets were melting and they're not, water levels wouldn't rise due to Archimedes principle, globally water levels are expected to rise about 10mm in next 200 years but thats about all you'll ever get.
