Will the remake of Infernal Affairs be as good as the Original

Infernal Affairs was a great Hong Kong thriller movie starring Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Anthony Wong and Eric Tsang.

Will the Hollywood remake 'The Departed' directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson be any good.

I though the remake of The Grudge was a complete waste of time as the US version was a complete carbon copy with nothing new added.

With Dicaprio & Damon in it?

Not a chance.

I didn't even bother to watch 'The Grudge'. It's one thing to remake a film but when they barely mention the original in the publicity most people think it's a new film and not just a carbon copy.

It would be even more of a traversty if they tried to re-make the ultimate Hong Kong Heroic BlooRABhed Movie "The Killer", one of the finest films ever made.

The trilogy is wonderful and happy with them in my collection. As for the remake, I will see it, but lol, will not be as good, please....

Believe it or not, there were plans to remake The Killer for the American market and there is a script floating about on a website. I read that it was planned to star Denzel Washington and Richard Gere but John Woo was quite disheartened by all of this (and who can blame him). Thankfully, filming never got started.

A lot of films from HK, Japan and South Korea have had the rights snapped up by Hollywood to be remade for the Western market. It just goes to show that Hollywood have run out of ideas - I mean, how many sequels can they squeeze out of one film?. I cannot think of a remake that is better than the original.

I will watch the remake of Infernal Affairs, especially as one of my favourite directors is behind the camera, but I cannot see this being as good as the original.

i think the question should be where have the original ideas gone? why do we see remakes of movies that aren't that old? money making scams. no other reason.

What's wrong with DiCaprio or Damon? Have you never seen Catch Me If You Can, The Aviator, The Talented Mr Ripley? Those two are both very good actors

I watched Infernal Affairs on the recommendation of a friend. I thought it was just going to be a kung-fu action movie, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's well-plotted and very clever.

I've got grave reservations about a Hollywood remake, especially with young actors like DiCaprio and Damon. Yes, they have made some good movies between them, but this film neeRAB leaRAB with a bit more gravitas (and, besides, I can't take Matt Damon seriously any more after seeing Team America :-)
