will the local high school let me go in and take pictures?

I need to go into a local public high school to take/shoot some photographs for a project. Im a graphic designer and thinking of shooting photos of lockers, desks, classrooms, kids etc. i graduated from a private highschool NOT IN US.....my question is will the local high school let me go in and take pictures??
