will the job centre or any other organisation pay for my apprenticeship if i choose one?

i wanna start learning to be a mechanic with a family freind, im un employed and i am claiming job seekers, if i were to walk in and say i wish to learn with this man to gain high standard of knowledge in mechanics would they pay for him to train me up?
