Will the drinking age invermont be lowered? Does anyone know when we will know by?

If anyone has been watching the news lately part of the vermont senate has passed a bill to research weather to lower the drinking age to eighteen. Some believe that this will help to dissipate binge drinkers, others believe that this will increase DD accidents, furthermore im just curious when we will know by and if you think this law will pass or not.
 
It was tried before and failed miserably. They upped the age to 21. Also it is States Rights whether the drinking age is lowered to 18..BUT if it is, the Federal Government will with hold money to the state that lowers the age.
 
this is actually a nationwide issue. I would be very surprised if this actually goes through only because of the attitude towards drinking on the US. Many people drink to get drunk, not for the social aspect of it, which is why there is such a problem even with the age set at 21. To lower the age will almost certainly be a failure and increase alcohol related accidents ad possibly deaths. Though i wish that this were possible, i dont think it is feasible in this day and age. People just are not responsible enough to be accountable for their actions.
 
With advent of the internet and STDs , the kids are more educated on the dangers of alcohol and and immorality more than ever before. Therefore I believe the age limit should be dropped because of today's world.
 
I do not believe this will get through. Congress has tied many important revenue streams such as highway funding to the drinking age.

As far as the comment about the age of drinking in regards to unsafe driving. When they decided to raise the drinking age, they based it on reports of groups such as MADD, but they lacked statistical evidence proving teen related deaths is connected to the legalism of alcohol. I can prove that despite a ban on alcohol for teen drivers, alcohol related deaths has only increased. Countries that allow drinking at much lower ages have far fewer alcohol related deaths concerning driving. I consider the federal involvement in alcohol an unfair extension of federal government power in the domain of the states.
