Will the constant rise of modern civilization lead to its demise?

Possibly Yes,
And quite possibly...No.

P.s. good luck with your other..."enlightening" answers (!)

Rise in society yes, technology no. Resources and their sustenance has only increased with technology. The governments, laws, religions and culture have shit on those resources.

I would like to see civilization fall to be born again as something beautiful so long as it isn't the same people helping as it was the people to destroyed us (new world order conspiracy).

Everybody could live comfortably in Australia. Over population is a HUGE myth. Technology has made it possible to create enough abundance in resources for everybody by a huge margin. California alone could feed the world for 40 years (the ENTIRE world).

It might interest you to look into the Venus Project and Jacque Fresco.

People don't realize that the same greed that corrupts also can build amazing things. It's just how it's put to use (just like technology).

I don't know if "demise" is the right term to use, but the basic biological principal is that once a creature uses up the resources in its area, it either moves to another area, discovers new ways of using the resources given, or the population declines until the available resources more accurately reflect the number a creatures using it. Demise seems like the whole human race will disappear, but its more likely that we'll suffer a decline in numbers until the resources we use aren't as strained. Alternatively, we could evolve into a species that is able to use available resources more efficiently.

no.
greed will lead mankind to its demise.

the basic neo-capitalist concept which is fundamented on, is greed. to me its a bit confusing, since adam smith was merely describing that human beings are driven by greed, but never stated that greed should be the basic concept or value that humans should strive for in our modern civilization.

The accumulation of wealth was merely pointed out by smith, it was never his intention to make it a goal.

no doubt in mind it will.our sins will one day destroy us.
we take more from he earth then we need overproducing and being to materialistic.and then we blame it on overpopulation when most western worlds and a single person is consuming 10 times more then that of the tribal worlds.we are all guilty of this.because of our own self consciousness that companies and imperialistic exploit in the name of their God money.

now we want to make other nations as capitalistic and greedy as us.and soon it will happen.because the pleasure of materialism is so tempting.but the pleasure of sin is only for a season ut your actions will be forever.

We can feed twice as many people as we could 30 years ago. We have the capacity for more efficient and cleaner transportation and energy use. We could make amazing strides in the next 20 years.

Or not.
