Is it totally impossible to have a Barium enema thing under general anestetic.!!
I have had a Colonoscopy under a general anastetic, but i now have to have a Barium thing, and am already in so much discomfort that i cant touch my stomach/butt area.There is no way i could cope with being poked and prodded, but i have to have this procedure done pretty soon, they don't want to wait. Is it possible to have the enema then have the camera bit done under anastetic!!

I don't think so, you have to move a few times and hold your breath for the x-ray. Your doc can certainly Rx some Valium for pre-procedure jitters.

Ask your doc, you never know, he may not need so many pics and sedated you won't be breathing hard anyways. Worth a shot!

I did not have an enema in the end, the Dr did a CT scan of my pelvic area and am still waiting on the results.
