Will Republicans allow the media to dictate their candidate for 2012?

Conservatives are constantly told that if a Republican is going to win, it needs to be a moderate. In fact, many in 1976 and 1980 said Reagan was too conservative to be elected (wonder why they'd say that???)
But in the last 2 election cycles, I think the message is clear.
McCain was a moderate RINO, and many stayed home instead of voting.
This November, conservatives won overwhelmingly, even in many traditionally liberal areas.

So will Republicans be lead down the losing path again, nominating a RINO like Romney who will be blasted by the left for pushing the health care most Republicans are against, or will they wise up and nominate a conservative who is actually fiscally conservative (Thune, Christie, Pawlenty, Ryan, Rubio, etc.) and could help lead this country in the right direction?
Paul Jackson-
You're dead wrong. McCain was liking going to lose regardless, but Palin is/was more popular than McCain.
Mark-

I know. And that's been part of the problem. That's why most people don't feel the Republican party represents them.
Boober-
The polls suggest otherwise. The country HAS NOT shifted to the left. It's just the media wants people to think that.

Agree with Paul, but again the media has dictated what people think about him. They portray him as a nutjob, for...*gasp*, wanting to follow the Constitution. But he's much older now and may not be a viable candidate. Wonder if Rand will pop up as a VP candidate.

Hate to break the news, but Obama is the extremist. And these Republican "extremists" you speak of just won all over the country.
