will regular denim mold/form fit like selvage denim?

What i'm wondering is, i know selvage denim you don't really wash, maybe less than half a dozen times a year. and in a way it kind of forms to you.

im wondering, with regualar denim, like the kind you get from express or gap. and if you don't wash it for months the first time. will it gradually form to you? or not as well as selvage denim?
