I have been attempting to open my ports on my new laptop but ran into a small problem. My main computer has had its ports opened for a while now, but my freind (Very computer savvy =P) did it about a year ago and didn't want to show me how to do it, and for some reason the login and PW are not factory defaults.
So I have been reading up and most people say to just reset the router and it will allow me to put a new Username and PW, but also put it to factory default settings. How bad is this? Maybe someone who's also tried it could tell me what exactly happens.
I don't know shizz about setting up a router and my mom will go crazy if I mess up the internet and she has to have someone come over.

Ahh! so if I had my ports opened up on one computer it shouldn't matter as long as they're on the same connection?
If its a windows firewall (which this is a new computer and entirely possible) what would I have to turn on or off to be able to run the server??

It was the windows firewall, server is working perfectly now. Thanks for your help, I will pick you as best answer once the hour is up. If you can respond, it is safe to turn off the windows firewall right? I have avast installed but that's it. Thanks!
