Will one year without exercise do perma-damage?

I used to be very fit & active, I had around 11% body fat, did weights, looked & felt good about a year ago. I have been living a sedentary lifestyle since then though due to a back injury & other things for almost a year now, eating fairly unhealthily...the usual stuff (though I don't drink & only smoke occasionally, not tobacco but weed). I'm around 19-20% body fat, not only this but looking back on pictures my face is a lot fatter, not only fatter like just generally run-down (looks slightly older too). I am just wondering if this is permanent, as in these effects are permanent, or can I get back to what I used to be by exercising again? Basically will one year living unhealthily of caused me unfixable damage both externally (skin etc) & internally?
