Will my sim card work in someone else's htc hd2 smart phone?

I have t-mobile and i'm trying to get that deal they have right now buy one get one, but i don't have two lines just my one line. Someone I know with two lines will do it for me. But I want to make sure it will work when I take their sim card out and put my sim card in, and will the internet work if i call to activate it.
If any body knows please help thanks
