Will my iPhone work in s. Korea?

I will be going to south Korea in September for a year and I wanted to take my iPhone. I know that I can use it with my AT&T service and pay $3 a min, but is there a way I can use it with a Korean number? Or at least use it for the Internet and then I'll get a regular Korean phone.
