My brother just committed suicide so we used up all of our regular leave on that. We also used up advanced leave so by the time the baby comes, he might only have a couple days of leave stored up. Im wondering if they will let him take any more advanced leave so I dont have my baby and then he has to go straight back to work. Also, when I'm actually giving birth, they WILL let him leave work, right? How does that all work? I already get the feeling that the military does not care about the birth of our baby, so I'm a little worried. As always, please be polite and respectful in your answering, and thank you very much.

I really don't want to burst your bubble but when I was IN the military they didn't care about my pregnancy, they made me do various jobs that could have made me lose the bay so as a dependent I dont think they would care to do anything extra for you. It really depends on his chain of command and which branch he is in. I was Air force and all the girls in my squadron that were pregnant were treated like that.

Which branch is he in?
they don't HAVE to let him leave when you are giving birth. His job will always come first. and HE is not the one giving birth. Getting tine off, well, that all depends on his supervision. but they most likely will. He can ask his first sargent for emergency leave if you need it.

if you are having real trouble being alone while he is working the military provides programs for you. Call the hospital, family support, Champlain, and first shirt. You are not alone.
