Will my fish become more aggressive if hungry?

OK, so in my last quest, I discovered that I was way overfeeding my fish. We will drastically change the feeding habits, to keep a healthier tank. Here's the next thing: We have noticed that a couple of our fish seem more aggressive, or irritable if it's been a while since they've been fed. By "a while" I mean 8+ hours. We dont want to be overfeeding, but we also dont want our fishies to kill each other because they're hungry. Any help??
 
what type of fish do you have. Some species of fish are naturally more aggressive than others.
 
I used to overfeed also. Now I have them on like a time clock for their eating. Im a college student so I get out of class at 12 pm (usa). I feed them once before I go to school, once when I get home, after I eat dinner and then before I go to sleep. They are happier and healthier.
