I have a silver tip shark my mom is not letting me get a different tank so I may need to add salt to a fresh water tank. If i can't please tell me what would really convince my mom to get another fish tank. I really want this little guy to live.
And I have already given a lecture to her about these things and I can't take them back and my Dad will not allow me to give them away. I need something to hit her on the spot. My mom wanted me to go to this Kumon place. So I said I will do it to my junior year if I could have a larger aquarium but she said no. She thinks it is ok but I told her it might not be ok. but you know parents . too stubborn. Also I have $650 to spare but she say no still. Any suggestions?
oh sorry they are eclipse catfish and tiger barb
I ment marine salt
I have only 50 gallon the stupid guy at petsmart said inch of fish per gallon so I got confused until today and I need to get bigger fish tank.

Are there any other fish in that tank? If so, what are they? They'd be the only problem.

Make sure you use marine salt! Table salt and conditioning salt are completely different things and will not work.

EDIT: I'm confused. They won't let you upgrade, but they won't let you give them away either? Do they understand that since you can't take it back, it's one or the other and there are no other options? Because otherwise the fish WILL die, and the sad truth is it'll probably be slowly and painfully.

Just making sure about the salt, a lot of people don't realize that there's a difference and I feel like I need to mention it every time just to be safe.

The tiger barb and eclipse catfish can be brackish. How big is your tank, though? The barbs get to be three inches and need to be in at least groups of three, the eclipse gets to over a foot, and the shark can get up to two feet long and schools.
