Will my financial aid package change if transferring mid year?

I want to transfer back to my old university from a community college. My EFC was too high for me to receive the Pell grant so I received a small grant of $550. If I transfer back to my old university will I receive aid based on the cost of going there? I was told that I only will receive the other half of my financial aid, is this true?
