Will my Chinese algae eater endanger the rest of my fish as it gets older?

I set up a ten gallon tank about a week and a half ago and added fish three days in. I bought a Chinese algae eater at about 1.5 inches long along with 2 blood fin tetras, 2 platies, a bamboo shrimp, and neon blue dwarf gourami. I know they get to be about 5 inches long and do become slightly aggressive, but don't know how concerned I should be.
 
Well, you'll be fine with him small, but yes, he will become a danger as he gets larger. Not only that, but it will outgrow your tank as well. They can reach 8 inches in length,and become aggressive long before they reach full size.
If you're able to, I'd consider returning him instead. Many stores will have a couple weeks for the return/exchange policy.
I'd look into otto cats instead. They stay about 1-1.5 inches, but need to be in groups of three or more.
Or just leaving the scrubbing to yourself. They have magnetic scrubbers now that can make it very quick and easy to clean the glass. In a ten gallon,which won't hold many fish, it would also help to free up what little fish space you have.

i get thumbs down for this but i have a cae in a 12 gallon tank and its fine with my fish,but i would not put 2 together un less it was a large tank .
 
yes when they get older they seem to get lazy and stop eating algae as much. But they also will start to chase your fish. I learned that many aquarium owners really recommend not to keep them. Hopefully this will help you.
 
The Algae eater will grow to 12+ inches. I have one that is about a year old and almost 9 inches. My Pleco has not killed any fish nor is aggessive because I feed it on a regular basis.
