Will my boyfriend get charged for me sending him texts via AIM internationally?

(Sprint)? My boyfriend has a Sprint phone. I'm in Ireland for the month, so I've been using AIM to text him. I know it's free for me to text, and it's normally free for him to receive IM text messages when I'm in the states. But I'm worried that he's going to have a massive phone bill for me sending these IM text messages from overseas. Does anyone know if Sprint charges for that?
