Will mercury metal seep through plastic?

I need to store mercury metal safely, will mercury work in a glass bottle with a normal plastic cap(like a spice bottle) or will it get through the plastic. If so, can you tell me a way to store it safely

i am pretty sure it wont...but ask your science teaher...i will ask mine on monday and come back and answer again on monday
