Will I get more financial aid if I move out of my mom's house?

Hey, guys. So, I recently talked to my friend who is going to live on campus and she said that financial aid is paying for her dorm..and giving her A LOT of extra money. I've always wanted to live on campus, but didn't think I could afford it. I didn't know financial aid will give you more money if you don't live with your parents. Is it true? Thanks
 
Well, I know that some schools expect your parents to be financially responsible for you, and they even frown upon having a member of your family unemployed. I was just reading about Andover's financial aid program, and they expect (if your parents are divorced) your step-parents to be financially responsible for you! It's ridiculous. Good luck on your financial aid, I'll be in your shoes in a couple of years :)
