will i be okay with leaving my gauges out when im at school/work?

i havent gauged my ears yet but im thinking about it and i was wondering how well it would work with keeping them out alot because i cant wear them at school or work.

i was thinking i could get started on them this summer and maybe it would help since ill have them in whenever im not working.

i was just wondering if anyone had any information about gauging ears that would be helpful to my situation.
is it worth it?
what are the risks?
