will i be charged to use the sony ericsson HE-100 gps with my phone?

i want to know if it's worth forking out for the gps handset, or will i be charged for internet connections? does the internet connection need to be made? my phone has a satnav program on it, but requires a 'GPS accessory' which i assume is the HE-100 gps thing.
