Will I be able to use an AT&T cell phone with my T-Mobile service/sim card?

I recently broke my T-Mobile phone and my friend has offered to give me her AT&T Motorola Razr because she wants to upgrade phones anyway. So could I just use my sim card and use that Razr? Would I need to call t-mobile or something? thanks
