GM is half the company it used to be, obviously Chevy isn't going anyplace and neither is Cadillac. Both are good sellers and the company needs a luxury line and a regular line. The Cruze is awesome.
However I look at the new Buick's and I ask "why do they need this line?" they seem small,overpriced,and uninspiring. They are like GM's version of Mercury(which bit the dust). I can see in a way why they keep GMC but would it not make more sense to just merge that into Chevy?
