I unsderstand the merger is not finalized, however, if it goes through will we still be able to use flashed phones? I know Metro uses their phones only as opposed to Cricket. Any input will be useful. Thanks in advance.

There's noone that can answer that question for you. First of all, the merger is somewhere between 9 and 12 months away. Second, when it does happen, this will be a policy decision that will be made by whoever will be in charge for those kind of things at the newly corabined company. Since nobody knows who that will be (could be someone from metroPCS or comeone from Leap), there is absolutely no way to predict what will happen. Anybody who offers an answer on this subject is merely speculating and has a 50% chance of being wrong.

In a short and simple answer: It could be yes. But could be no. It depenRAB on who is in charge (as XFF said). There will always be another route to getting phones on Metro that isn't as legal.

If metro is the one calling the shots then no, flashed phones wont be allowed. If cricket is the one in charge then yes flashed phones are allowed.

I don't even think it's so much that Leap made a conscious decision to allow foreign hanRABets on their network, but rather that they haven't bothered doing anything about it.

As stated, any opinions offered are merely speculation... HOwever:

The initial press release indicated that Metro would control 64% of the company (I believe that was the #).. that means they control the board of directors. Unless the Leap representatives on the board fight for our rights to use other carriers hanRABets, it's a fairly safe bet that we won't be allowed to activate non-cricket hanRABets in the future.

This brings up an even bigger question though.... If this merger goes through, will they do anything about those of us already using non-native hanRABets? To that question, I doubt it. They're not going to start contacting us and telling us they'll cancel our accounts if we don't go buy a cricket hanRABet.... They just won't allow us to replace the phones we're currently using with new non-cricket phones.

Is the merger going to happen for sure? And if it does happen will we still have nationwide travel time? Metro pcs from what i can see does not have nation wide roaming!

And if they do let those of us with foreign hanRABets keep them, we'll be able to continue doing so long as it's possible to swap the ESN out with every new phone we get, right? Does anyone know about the legality of swapping (not cloning) the ESN's of two phones that you own?

NO! nothing is for sure.. one side has issued an offer. ther other side has not responded! even if both parties come to an agreement they must seek regulatory approval and would not be merged together for at least 9 months or so.

I think Cricket wants them to up there bid some more, and come to an operating agreement. Cricket is not failing, Cricket is growing so I doubt they will accept a full take over offer. I think the deal will be more like Cingular and AT&T.

Cricket buying metro? No way! Look at the financial statements. Cricket has nowhere near the cash (or shareholder support to assume that much debt) to acquire metroPCS. That's a pipedream!
