will catfish eat betta flakes?

well i moved my betta to a 12 gal but the filter ends up pushing some of the bettas flakes to the bottom of the tank i was planing to get some catfishes and i heard that they will also eat the food from other fishes that fall to the bottom of the tank i would like to know if this is true?
