I got my 3G iPhone on June 28, 2009. About four weeks ago, I've encountered my first REAL problem with it.
Whenever I plug it into any computer, it responds to the computer and the computer and iTunes will recognize it as an iPhone. iTunes begins to back up my contacts and then it starts to sync my phone. Then, my phone freezes and the little swirling icon appears in the middle of the screen. My phone will turn itself off and restart. But when it restarts, the Apple logo appears for about one to two minutes. Sometimes it'll even wipe all of my music from my phone! When it turns back on, my phone vibrates two to five times even though it's not on silent.
Last night, I made an appointment at Apple. As I was filling out my reservation, it told me to get the latest version of iTunes and update my iPhone settings, and if that doesn't fix the problem, then I should try a restore. I downloaded the latest iTunes. My problem didn't go away. I tried updating my iPhone settings, when I got a message from iTunes saying that my phone could not be updated. When I tried to restore it, iTunes told me that my phone could not be restored.
I hardly ever drop my phone, and if I do, it's usually on carpet. Although, when I first got it, I did drop it on concrete when I was getting out of my car but that was in July so I don't know why I'd be experiencing problems now.
Will Apple replace my phone?
When I did drop my phone, it suffered minimal damage, it just chipped the back corners a little!
