will anything happen if i put a new tampon in after 8 hours?

im in grade 8 and i have my grad trip coming up. i have used tampons before and i am aware that you can get toxic shock syndrome if you leave it in for longer then 8 hours. i want to know if taking the tampon out after 8 hours then putting a new one in right after, if it can still give me tss. or is that if i just leave one in for longer then 8 hours. srry if that sounds a little confusing
