We need a new DVD player and we have a non-HDTV, but might upgrade to HDTV in the future. Would an upconvert DVD player work on our tv until we decide to upgrade?
Absolutely. The only difference is you will set the output of the player to 480i or 480p(depending on the capabilities of your current display) instead of 720p or 1080i/p.
480i will likely be the default setting the player ships with.
