Will a third party battery for my HTC Desire HD harm the phone?

Hi there,

I'm just looking for spare phone batteries, as the Desire HD is a hungry beast. Third party ones are really cheap, I would just like to know if it's worst spending extra, to save bricking, or otherwise harming my phone.
