Will a rabbit around the garden hurt or help it?

When I young, we had rabbits around the yard and they never hurt or bothered the garden. So far this has not. I was told they will eat the carrot tops. But what else will they eat?
 
rabbits are cute....we have them at our farm...not much of trouble makers...i doubt they would help your garden,but they wont hurt much either...
