will a puffer fish and male beta get along?

Hello me and my girlfriend have been gettin a fish tnk built and put together we just love the fish! We currently have 1 male beta,1 corydora and 1 black lyretail molly, all the fish seem really happy and since the addition of the third fish have noticed alot of activity in the tank and the fish actually playy and what not now its really cool. We have a 5 gallon tank and i was wondering if i bought a puffer fish if the tnk community would still get along we love the puffer fish in the petstore and really want one can they get along with the other fish?
 
I was under the impression that puffer fish were salt water fish. Cause in that case no. Plus you need a minimum of 10-20 gallons for your fish, 5 gallons is ok. for the betta.
