will a line ouput converter for a car work for my home stereo?

I have a Pioneer reciever with a subwoofer that has speaker wire inputs. I want to add a powered subwoofer and it has RCA inputs. A Line output converter for a car has speaker wires on one end and a female RCA on another. Will a car LOC work to convert the speaker wire to RCA on a home reciever?
