will a K&N typhoon air intake system fit on my 1990 mazda miata mx-5?

because i want to get one but im not sure wether it will fit or not< because it says its for a 1999-2005 model. if any one knows from experience with miatas, or has tried putting a later model intake on the 1.6 let me know. thanks
