Will a Boost Mobile phone work in Italy with an Italian sim card?

Hi there, I have a Boost Mobile phone and I am going on a trip to Italy. Once I get to Italy I want to take out the sim card, and use an italian sim card (i can buy there) so I can use an Italian phone number and make local calls in Italy while I am there for my months stay. Does anyone know if the phone is compatible with the Italian sim card? Thank you!! I am not looking to use the Boost service in Italy, I just want to know if the phone is compatible with an italian sim card. !! <3
