....303 british rifle? well i had an idea, a good idea. i want to put a .30 caliber ( .309 diameter) ( 7.62x25mm) bullet in a .303 british cartridge with the normal amount of powder. now i know the the diameter of a .303 british barrel is about .312

so can a .30 ( .309) caliber pistol bullet be sucessfully fired through a .303 (31 caliber) british barrel. I estimate the velocity of the bullet to be probably around 2800fps.

yes, because the .309 caliber bullet will fit in the .311 caliber barrel of the .303 british, the bullet will fit, but lose accuracy since it will not perfectly fit in the barrel, that's why the 7.62x39 bullet isn't accurate in the sks and AK-47, because the bullet is smaller then the bore, making it lose grip in the rifling and thus losing accuracy.
