Wii vs 360

I've done a lot research, asked plenty of people, and I'm still not sure...

I don't have an HDTV. The xbox can play burned back-up copies - big plus.

If you don't consider cost, which one would you prefer to have? (I can't buy both)

Thanks in advance.

xbox 360

I've been asking the same question myself. I want to pick up a PS3, Wii, or 360 for xmas (I already have a PS3 and will probably sell it if I'm not convinced to keep/open it).

All signs are pointing to 360 right now.

edit: and I've played all 3. I didn't find the Wii very fun. It might be because I play sports somewhat often so don't really need a simulation-like physical fix. If I want to hit a baseball or play tennis I usually just go out and play. Sure, COD and other shooting games would be cool but I was addicted to GOW and COD3 when I played them on 360 so I'm going to go that way.

if you're on limited funds i'd go with the 360 just for the fact that you can download the games. having a system with games to play > having a system with no games.

if you have the money to drop on games, go for the wii

FYI, the last system I owned was a PS1.

For 1st person shooters, how are the controls? Seems like a controller can't replace a mouse/keyboard.

theres really a radical difference between the two -- what kind of games are you interested in playing? mainly multiplayer/single player?

if a title is on both PC and console and is a FPS i almost always choose PC because of the multiplayer, however the 360 controller is great for FPS

Multiplayer

Also I hope someone can answer these:

1) My Earthlink DSL is slow. 100 / 35 KB/sec. This works fine for PSP games, but I'm worried it won't suffice for xbox. Thoughts?

2) Any alternative to buying the $90 WiFi attachment?

I don't really miss a whole lot on my friend's SDTV...
I'm sure it would look a whole lot better on a HDTV, but Gears still looks (and plays) great on a small screen with composite cables. If I could only have one, I'd pick the 360. The Wii has potential in the future, but the games just aren't there yet.

Mouse and keyobard > * for FPS

But the Wii remote makes FPS on a console a lot like a mouse and keyboard now. You can aim anywhere you want even at a distance for a headshot effortlessly and with ease. Which makes it better for a FPS then the 360. Although the 360 has the better graphics. So if you can master the controls for a FPS on the 360 then go for that. But if you are like most people and find it hard to aim fast and accuratly wherever you want with a normal controller the Wii is your best bet.

fps on wii is kinda tough, i havent really gotten used to it yet. right now, as far as fps goes, id rather have a 360 w/ Gears of War (online ftw.), but as far as fun multiplayer not online, Wii is ftw.

Look at the ridiculous list of AAA potential games coming out for 360 in 2007:

Lost Planet
Bioshock
Crackdown
Forza 2
Blue Dragon
Lost Oddysey
Mass Effect
Alan Wake
Splinter Cell 5
Assassin's Creed
Grand Theft Auto 4
Halo 3
Halo Wars
Fable 2
Too Human
Command and Conquer 3
Banjo Kazooie 2

That is a sick, sick list of games. Do some research on the games I just listed, and see how many interst you.

come on. you know that at least half of this list is going to be crap. although, there are some serious fucking titles in there. i hope i get a 360 for xmas. 360+wii=superwin.
