Pit is a character in the new SSB:B. it makes sense given they havent made once since the NES days. I'd say that qualifys it for "long dead"

they damn well better w/ full multiplayer support.

I would be even better if the multiplayer support went as far as to allow two players on the same console to play others (ie: my wife could play online at the same time).
