Wii lifespan will be 4-6 years

Not surprising, they will have to get onboard with graphics at some point or they might fall to far behind. And by then it will be easy to have a console with amazing graphics without fear of it catching fire

eh? How does that make sense? They havent changed any hardware and they havent reduced their price. They still lose alot of money for each console, its always the case.

Nintendo always makes money on their consoles.

They could have been losing money because of the factories they built, the machines used to manufacture the xbox ...etc. They may have not been losing money on necessarily the console, but manufacturing the console. Just a guess though, I have absolutely no idea.

manufacturing prices go down over time. i'm not sure why... i read an explanation of it once but i can't remember what it said... i think it pretty has to do with the fact that over time the components become cheaper.

productivity increases over time because the human factor gets closer to a "machine" over time. worked in a factory once...the first 6 months are a bit slow ....after that..you're a machine.

Still though, I dont think Microsoft gains profit off their consoles. I thought it takes years to make a difference.

Im pretty sure they still lose alot of money per console. I may be wrong though, anyone got a link?

actually I'm hopeing for a new nintendo in 4 years. the wii is great now but I think 4 years down the road I'll be looking at my wii then looking at what my computer can do and being kinda however the virtual console on the wii will always be there for me

Well, people at nintendo are smart people. I'm sure graphics aren't that big of a concern. All the hardware and development for it is here and just needs to be tapped into. Things like the wiimote and nunchuku is brand new and nothing really like this from before. I think that if they wanted to, they could've made the Wii into a next gen graphics console. And so if they feel that they've fell too far behind they shouldnt have a problem scraping their way back up, graphics wise.

I just saw this thing on tv "the un official history of gaming" and Xbox does lose money on their consoles. But they make tremendous money on their contracts with gaming companies and all that accessories.
