Wii component cable people....HELP.

WTF is going on? I got some component cables for Xmas (psyclone), hooked them up and already see an improvement. I go into the settings, switch it to 480p, everything still looks ok. Go back to the wii channels menu and WTF, everything is jittering back and forth?!!?!? Once I click on a channel and start browsing it looks better. The pictures when I go into that still wobbles, but the weather channels looks great. Playing Zelda looks OK until it goes to a video, then it looks a little jittery too.

WTF is going on?




CLIFFS: Turn it to 480p and the wii channel menu is all jittery, but other stuff is perfectly fine.
 
By jittery do you mean the rounded edges are jagged/aliased? If so, that's the way the Wii is. Zelda looked a lot more aliased when I switched to component cables because the image is sharper and more detailed. I don't recall the main menu being alised, but I can check again. I believe we have the same TV (46HM95). Can you post a pic of the issue?
 
Sounds like the TV or Wii is having problems outputting/displaying that resolution for those sections.

I have the Psyclone cables for my PS2 and Wii. When I try to set the resolution above 480p the screen gets all scrambled like old cable tv porn. My TV obviously doesn't support the higher res but does exactly what you're describing.
 
My TV does up to 1080i, I have my DVD player outputting at 480p, so it shouldn't be an issue

I just threw a video together...it's flash, sorry, that's the best/fastest way I had to compress it It's dark, but you get the idea when it gets back to the channels. It doesn't scramble it like yours does, it just shakes it back and forth about 1/4 of an inch really fast.

do you have to make any changes in the settings that you might've missed? When I was reading the set up stuff it mentioned that just because you've got the Wii in 16:9 mode doesn't mean your TV will default into said mode so maybe you need to force the TV into the mode to allow it to display properly?
 
16:9 isn't my problem...it was always in 16:9, even when I was going composite. I got the component cables and went to switch it to the HDTV 480p setting and it gets jittery at the menu like in the video I posted.
 
I'm getting my Nintendo branded component cables today, I'll let ya know if I get any problems like that with them. Different TV of course though.
