Wii blue light illumination question

since i don't have my own wii yet to compare to my friend's, i'll ask you guys...

with my buddy's wii, when you push the power button, the slot light blinks for a split-second then stays off


then one time i loaded a gc game and the slot lit up as it was loading, which seemed normal (i don't know).


i then sent my phone an email from the wii, got it about 20 minutes later and responded to it while in a game of wii sports, and the wii lit up when it got the message, but then when we were done playing, i was gonna go back to the wii menu so i could load another game, and the blue light went off, even without checking the email. i then sent like 3 emails to the wii, it received all of them and the slot didn't light up

in the settings it is set to bright...

later on i loaded the same gamecube game and the slot didnt light up like it previously did, and when the wii was powered off and powered on again it didnt blink like the first few times we turned the console on.

does any of this seem normal to you guys?
 
Yes... the light is only on during the times you mentioned and while it's doing some types of network access.

There has been a modchip news posted here at OT... and on other sites about this cheap modchip to make teh light flash with Wii game sounds.

Also doing this voids any coverage you have on the Wii
 
i've sent my wii a message while it was in standby mode (orange) and it lit up blue, faded in and out.... left it on standby for a whole day, went to power it on to play zelda, blue light gone...
 
mine does the exact same thing. blinks when turning on for a split second, then sometimes when loading games. tried the whole email thing and no luck at all
 
ive been trying to do that permanent blue light trick too and it worked for like 2 sec, then when I went to the message board (I didnt even click on any messages) the light went out
